Song: Diggin' Out – “Reflections on being buried alive”
Liner notes
I think the chords came first here... after the general idea of what the song was going to be about, that is. A pretty dark chord progression, I guess. I don't think I've ever written another song that used only minor chords.
This was really hard to play on the guitar. It's full of bar chords and I hadn't been playing a lot of guitar before... so the guitar tracks are taped together somewhat haphazardly. The vocals, on the other hand, despite not with very good technique, are exactly as I envisioned them: weak in the beginning, desperate/breaking in the end.
The mix is completely free of reverb.

Words
Eyes open, no light It's darker than night How did I get here [I was asleep] My mind is not clear [still counting sheep] No diggin' out No one's about And no one can hear me shout Walls closing in I cannot win And tomorrow won't begin It won't begin Buried in the ground My heartbeat, no other sound Wood all around me [in coffin shape] Airtight completely [I can't escape] No diggin' out...
