Song: Go Alone – “Gotta do everything by myself...”
Liner notes
This song has been released under the artist name "Guileless Contradiction".
When I started doing my first ever Album-A-Day, the prospect seemed rather daunting. I wouldn't be me if I hadn't turned that on its head and wrote a song about how great it is to have to do everything yourself.
This was probably the first song I ever recorded that had the "full band" treatment. Back then I still computer-generated the bass track, and them painfully cheap drums are long gone, too, these days...

Words
I know the road I want to go I know I'm going slow But that's part of the trip I see these people coming out Hear them shout about All the pain that I can skip I try to be a star But with their help I won't get far I try to go alone To make it on my own But they won't let it go Be proud they helped me so Bask in the kindness they have shown Their intentions may be good But I know where I stood The last time I gave up I want to do this thing myself Take no part off the shelf So that I get to the top I think I'm doing fine But they won't let me decline I try to go alone... It isn't worth a dime If I don't take the time myself My book, my painting or my rhyme I try to go alone...
